“Build confidence to embrace solitude.”
There are times in my life when I feel lonely. Usually it’s some parenting moment when I know what I need to do, but want to bounce it off someone, or in the evening when I want to run through the happenings of the day, whether the happy or the difficult. But the truth is that the more we learn to do on our own, the faster we build our confidence and empower ourselves and the lonely feeling fades away. I’ve learned more about myself in the moments when I have stood alone and allowed myself to feel into the uncomfortable circumstances in life than when I seek out other opinions and look for reinforcement. At any point in our days, we can choose to feel and get to know ourselves better or distract and numb the feelings in life that lead to discomfort. Then we lose confidence in our ability to adapt and handle what life brings our way. Have the confidence to lean into solitude, and understand yourself better, the calm that lies on the other side is worth it.
Daily Action: Set a timer for 8 minutes and practice sitting in silence. Observe your thoughts without judging or attaching to them, picture them floating past while your mind stays present.
Daily Reframe: Solitude is empowering, not lonely.
With Optimism,
