Quote: Letting go is harder than it looks. Go easy on yourself.
Because of the good health I feel on most days, I have a tendency to be hard on myself if I am having a less than stellar day. But letting go of relationships, patterns, and places isn’t easy and some days, or even just a couple of hours can feel sad or flat. I have never felt hopeless though, as my mindfulness practice has taught me to observe my feelings and understand that they will pass. That is the game changer. Although the feelings that come from the knowledge we have of ourselves is what supplies our confidence, my spirits are often buoyed by an outsider's observation of my health or happiness. It happens often that people say to me it seems like I’ve been divorced for a long time. The first time someone said that, it stung a little, but soon I realized it’s because people see the healed version of me and think it would take longer to get there. The healing comes with letting go and doing the work. Then we get to feel the benefit of real connection that comes with living a free life.
Daily Action: Identify what you have held on to for too long that may be a roadblock to future success.
Daily Reframe: Walking our own path means letting go of the expectations that others once held for us. It’s not failure, it’s progress.
With Optimism,
Wendy
