Quote: Overcome procrastination with a solid routine, the results will follow.

Writers are familiar with a problem called creative avoidance, to me it’s worse that writers block because I can feel that there is something inside of me dying to come out, but my body is taking every other action to stop that idea from being born.  And because we can always convince ourselves that there is something else that needs to be done, this process can go on for way too long.  Procrastination is not just a writer's curse though, it can be part of anyone’s day.  The antidote to procrastination isn’t sexy, it’s forming a day in day out routine that allows us to put anything from taking your vitamins, to writing the next book on autopilot.  With all the tasks we have to complete in a day, life can get overwhelming fast.  A solid routine helps automatize what needs to be done, instills us with greater confidence as we check off our list, reduces our cognitive load, and brings the consistency that moving from good to great requires.  Set the routine and watch as the stress that procrastination creates disappears.

Daily Action: What systems in your day can be automatized?  Write them down and post them in a place where you see them every morning.

Daily Reframe: Having a routine for the simple things creates quicker ascension to achieve our goals.

With Optimism,

Wendy
