“Find strength and happiness within yourself, then you will find your community. No one knows how to make you happy, better than you do.” (p.36)

I used to find myself asking for opinions on my own life a lot. Something would happen in my day, and before I knew it, I would be on the phone asking for advice from a friend or family member.  Even if they were a trusted source, it broke the connection I had with my own gut and undermined my confidence to make my own decisions. Our gut feeling is powerful, it’s our enteric nervous system at work. There are millions of neurons that line our gut, the network is so powerful it has become known as our second brain. When we learn to trust it, our courage to act, retreat, trust, or move on emerges.  We are able to build relationships that are mutually beneficial because we know ourselves, our core values, and what we bring to the party.  Next time your gut tells you something, trust it.  Get to know yourself, strengths, weaknesses and all.  We are works in progress with room to grow everyday.  Adopt this framework and watch as people with like minds come into your life to support your process.

Daily Action: Take the VIA Character Strengths Assessment and get to know yourself a little better.  Based on Positive Psychology,  It takes about 10 mins but is full of so much insight.

Daily Reframe: Butterflies in your stomach are trying to tell you something. Learn to train and trust your enteric nervous system and your decision making process becomes clear.

With Optimism,
