Quote: Drink water, eat green things, move your body, connect with people, have faith, sleep well.
When life gets crazy, I remind myself to bring it back to the simple things. Life doesn’t actually require all the overthinking that I used to put into it. Over time, these easy steps are what I come back to, like a checklist to success, when overwhelm starts to set in. There have been some decisions and happenings in our lives over the last week that shook the ground under our feet. When Stanford announced that they were dropping their Men’s Volleyball program in 2021, the pit that immediately formed in my stomach, and the heartbreak that I was felt for my son, who has worked so hard, like the other 239 athletes that wear the Stanford jersey proudly, it took me about a day to process and find my true north. But when we take the time and effort to take care of ourselves, we are able to have the perspective that the picture is always bigger than we may originally see, and that faith will see us through, even when we can't see the course clearly in the moment. Keep it simple, we are stronger than we know and adversity is often what shows us what we care about most.
Daily Action: Pick one of these six things, set a goal and track it for a week. You can add on with each additional week, while keeping the habit from the previous week.
Daily Reframe: Small healthy habits make a big difference over time. A routine doesn’t need to be overhauled at once.
With Optimism,
