“Give this country something to be proud of.”

I was raised in a patriotic family who believed in service to their country. Whether through the military or public office, the spirit of being a proud American and Californian was bred into me. These days there are so many stories that cut at the heart of who we are as a nation, the deep divide is easy to see and so many power structures are broken.  The beauty of optimism is that because optimists believe in their own power to make change within themselves that manifests a better life, we wake up believing that we can change to make the situation better.  Change looks like listening for learning rather than to respond. Listen to someone who wasn’t raised with the same perspective as you, let them finish talking and see what you were meant to learn.  I strive to be better and do better everyday so that I can remain part of the greatness that is possible if we all learn not just to tolerate but link arms, love and adapt together. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

Daily Reframe: We move beyond tolerance and into love when we learn to listen and reflect on the beliefs of others without feeling threatened.

With Optimism,

Wendy
