Monday #26 -

Quote: People don’t understand they have been forgiven when they haven’t yet forgiven themselves.

These were the words that came from my mouth as I sat on my brilliant yogi friend’s patio last week. Write that down she said, I did, and it sat with me the rest of the week. We were talking about judgment and forgiveness and how freeing it is to be able to embrace the former and release the latter. I’ve heard it said that judgment is a natural part of being human, and while I can accept that as being true, like anything in life, there is always a road to improvement.  It’s only when we free ourselves by accepting the darkest spaces in ourselves, can we begin to see others in the light of that same compassionate acceptance.  There isn’t one of us without a story or a “wish I could have a do over” on our timeline.  Although we may not recognize it, we will always judge others as harshly as we judge ourselves.  The long road of life calls for healing action, taken daily.  If we don’t it gets bound up in our bellies, minds, and nervous systems in a way that after a while, we don’t resemble the person that we were destined to become. For the sake of our potential, we have to forgive ourselves, we’ve all made mistakes, and then start treating everyone that crosses our path with that same grace in action.

Daily Action: Write down one thing that you have experienced in life that hasn’t been forgiven. Thank that experience for what it taught you about your own toughness or for showing you how you don’t want to feel.  Tear the paper up in little pieces and extend yourself the grace that the world needs to feel.

Daily Reframe: We have the energy to fully embrace life if we practice forgiveness every day.

With Optimism,

Wendy
